Egg Donor V Embryo Donor

Does anyone have any advice on egg donor v embryo donor? My eggs are not the best quality but my husbands sperm is just fine. My

Initial thought on this matter was that why would we do the Embryo donation if we already have my husband sperm. The flip side is that we would both be in the same boat with regard to not having our own genetic child versus just me not having my own genetic child.. Thoughts?

using egg donor of different race

I'm currently pregnant with twins via donor eggs. I'm so happy to be pregnant! I'm Indian and my husband is Black/Hispanic. Finding an Indian donor was very difficult. Actually finding a donor of color in general was difficult so my husband and I decided to use a Caucasian donor and tried to find someone with darker features. I'm wondering if anyone is in a similar situation. And, if so are you planning to share with family, friends, acquaintenances. We've shared with our immediate family and just a few close friends. But, I feel like when the babies are born there are going to be some obvious physcial differences between me and them. I'm conflicted on how to handle this. I thought I'd resolved these feelings prior to starting the cycle but have found as the pregnancy progresses, feeling very anxious about how to handle everything. Sharing with close family and friends makes sense to me. But, I guess I'm trying to figure out how large should the cirlce of those in the know be? How do I share? I want to be thoughtful about how I do this because I know once we share it's out there and we can't take it back. Any experiences? I have seen a therapist but feel like hearing about first hand experiences would be helpful. Thanks!!!

Help! Trying to choose a donor.

DH and I decided we want to do an ivf cycle with donor. We already chose the Dr. we would like to perform the procedure. We also found the Donor agency we are going to use. I found three donors that have similar eye color hair color and features. My first choice looks the most like me but I don't know if my chances of having extra frozen embryos left over are very high if I use her. Any advice would be appreciated.

first choice: has has been through one cycle, late 20's, 20 eggs retrieved, one transefer, two blastocysts. resulted in pregnancy.

second choice: Has been through one cycle, early 20's, 39 eggs retreived, 2 transferred, and 5 frozen.

third choice: has never done a cycle but had an ultrasound that showed about 15 follicles.

I really think the first choice looks most like me but I think my chances are maybe better with my second choice. any input would be so helpful.

Is IVF cheaper if you have your own donor?

Hi all!  I was planning on donating an egg for my sister to save her some money on IVF, I know it's crazy expensive.  But someone told her they would charge her the same price whether she had her own donor or not.  Is this true?

Thanks!!!

How to stop worrying -subchorionic hematoma/bleeding

So, yesterday I was 6 weeks exactly, and had a sudden gush of blood and clots, totally freaked out and rushed to RE's office (so wonderful that the could see me right away, I was so grateful!)  and had an U/S.   They reassurred me that everything looked fine -- we could see the gestational sac and yolk sac, and the sonographer said she 'thought she saw a flicker' but no real heartbeat.  They did for sure see a small, 'not very bad' SCH, and said not to worry, drink lots of water, and only call again if had major cramping or bleeding -- I have another u/s scheduled for next week.  As of this morning, no more spotting, and I've spent HOURS researching and most of what I see is not too worrisome.

So, how do I get my mind off of overdrive???  I know I've read a lot of folks who had SCH  on this thread, but of course I can't find the threads now that I'm experiencing it.  I've read just about all of the SCH group threads, so really, I probably just need to go do something else and get my mind off of it!  With all the bad outcomes I've had over the past 5 years, it's just to hard to stay positive and believe that things are going to work out this time...

where to start (again?)

Ugh, I have been browsing this board for quite some time, but more of a lurker than anything else.

I was sure hoping to post on the "success stories" thread, for ahwile it looked like I could.

We got 13 mature eggs sharing with 1 other.  On day 3 where were enough growing that they pushed to Day 5. One Day 5 the doctor said the cycle was "not great" and there were 3 early blastocysts to choose from.

We transferred 1 Day 5 DE embryo October 4, got my BFP and things were going well.  But then at my 16 week regular OB checkup this week, there was not growth or heartbeat, it looked like baby had passed 2 weeks earlier.  I had to have a D&C on Thursday.

This was our 1st DE cycle, after 3 IUI, 3 IVF, 1 FET.  The Dr said it was not a "great cycle" at transfer.  The embryos were not great (my own egg ones from prior cycles had better "grades" than these.)  But it was good enough that he pushed us to only transfer 1 due to it being a 28 year old donor.  How I wish I had fought that harder now. He said that anything else good would be frozen anyways.  Nothing made it to freeze.

So here were are back at square 1.  We paid for "full shared risk" so if we try again we do not have to pay anything (full shared risk means that even that donor fee is included if we need an new donor, which we would need since nothing made it to freeze).

Feeling a little lost right now any guidance/suggestions/experience to share?

February 2013 DE IVF

Hello, just saw my RE today for baseline u/s. I start Delestrogen tomorrow and my ET will be 2/8 or 2/10.

We are going with frozen donor egg rather than fresh as it was faster.

We went through 5 IVF cycles starting Feb 2012 , the most recent early Jan 2013, all BFN due to my poor eggs....I. Am. Old.

With the first 2 we did 2day transfers, the 3rd was converted to IUI due to only 2 good follicles. The 4th was a 2day transfer. With the 5th we were going to go to 5 day blasts so we could do genetic testing but all 4 embies fizzled out between day 4-5. I am 43, DH is 56. We have a 9 1/2 yr old DS who was created the "old fashioned" way.

DE has given us a whole new hopeful outlook, esp after reading some of the positive posts!

DE cycling poll

Hi There,

I just had my 1st DE cycle which ended in a chemical pregnancy. I used frozen donor eggs from a proven donor. I have 3 frozen embryos left.

I'm curious how other peoples cycles are going and how many it took to get a take home baby. Here are my questions/answers:

1. How many DE cycles have you done? 1

2. How did they turn out? (bfp, m/c, chem, bfn) chemical

3. was your DE w/ fresh or frozen eggs? or fresh IVF? FET? Frozen egg 1st ivf (though Im not sure if a frozen egg with fresh sperm is considered fresh IVF or FET)

4. Did you use a proven donor? yes

5. How many eggs vs. quality embryos did you get? 6 eggs, all fertilized. 3 5 day blasts, 1 6 day blast.

6. how many embryos did you transfer each cycle? single 5 day blast.

Anyone started over using a 2nd donor?

Hi everyone,

We just had a failed cycle.  Unfortunately, there weren't any little frosties left over.  We are meeting with out RE next week and have two other appointments with other practices.

Has anyone else moved forward after having a failed first cycle with nothing left over?  What was you experience?

Thanks!

Pregnant from Donor Eggs

I would love to share with other moms of successful donor egg cycles, so hopefully this thread can be used for those of us that are currently pregnant from a donor cycle or already have children from a donor cycle.

I have several donor egg cycle buddies that are now pregnant and we are all expecting 2011 babies, so hopefully this is a great place to be our new home to post during our pregnancies.

Me & DH are both 43 and we live in South Carolina. We have 3 children ages 20, 17 & 13. The eldest two are my stepchildren and they live in California with their mom. My stepdaughter is pregnant and is due on 2/2/2011. We have not shared with her or my stepson that we are pregnant, but plan to do so after the 1st trimester.

Our EDD is 5/5/2011

1st beta was 150 (12dp3dt), 2nd beta was 505 (15dp3dt), 1st Ultrasound was on 9/16 (7w0d) and we had a HB of 135.

Tell us about you...where you are in your pregnancy or if you already have children, tell us about your experience as a mom of a miracle baby through donor eggs.

Laura Linney just gave birth to a son a 49....I think it's her first. Anyway, I'm calling it, Donor Egg!!!!! Lol. I don't expect her to out herself if she wants to keep the story behind conception private, but please, please, please, don't say it was a "natural surprise" at the next interview. Congratulations Laura!
