Choosing a donor

Hi ladies!

This may be a little premature as I am just at the very beginning stages of the DE IVF process (we recently moved so waiting for a referral to go through so I can see a new RE) but I am curious about what factors were important to you when choosing a donor.

Right now, I can honestly say that the only thing I care about is age. I would prefer a younger donor...for obvious reasons. I am not too concerned about how she looks/personality, etc. Maybe I should be?

Also, what type of info is available to you about donors? Do you see a picture or just description? Education?

Thank you in advance for your insights. :)

Insurance coverage after BFP

This has popped up on a couple of threads so I thought I'd share my experience -- my insurance covers nothing at all of infertility costs, but once I got my BFP, normal coverage kicks in.  So, I paid several hundred dollars for the Vivelle and PIO to get me from thaw to beta, but only $60 copay for all the rest.  U/S and labs are also covered, now that I'm officially pregnant...

Anyone have this done? At this point I want to exhaust all efforts to make sure my uterus is ok to put my last two snow babies. Any stories to tell?

Thanks!

DE snag?

So my clinic calls me today to tell me they are asking MEB if they allow us to go forth with our cycle since one of the questions on the profile is if the male sample is over 5 million.  My DH has CAVD which means the sperm is removed from his testes through a process called PESA (in short he shoots blanks) and we've always done ICSI.  She will argue we've always had close to 100% fertilzation rate of mature eggs.  I am now scared that there is a possibility that MEB will deny us eggs?  Is this possible?  Has anyone ever been in this situation?

Question about embryo grading

Hi all:

I'm hoping some of you have more experience and insight on what all the grades mean on both Day 3 and Day 5. I just did a 5DT of a single 3BB embie, and I've read that 3BB is "marginal" ... Sadly, that was the best I had and I'm not sure any of the others will make it to frosties.

Like everyone else here, I've been on this journey for years and have been planning this for months, thinking we had finally turned the corner.

I was guaranteed two cycles and started with 9 frozen donor eggs. Of the 9, eight fertilized. Day 3, we only had grade B and grade C (no grade A).

Has anyone had a similar experience? And what was the outcome?

Thanks for any help/guidance you can provide.

Frozen EGG Donor IVF

Hi Everyone!

I am trying to connect with ladies who might be going through, have gone through, or are considering Frozen Donor Egg IVF.  I know there are various clinics throughout the US specializing in this new technology.  My DH and I are trying to decide between a local top ranked Clinic in Houston, and RBA in Atlanta (who pioneered this process). Houston clinic said they would match RBA's 2 HQ embryo garauntee which makes it more appealing since it is 5 miles from my home and they have a 60% success rate, similar to Fresh cycles.

I would love to connect with ladies who have experience with this process in general.  My hubby and I are planning to do the IVF end June or early July.  The beauty of Frozen eggs is there isnt any syncing etc.  We have already found the donor at the houston bank and I love her.  I get 8 frozen eggs and they are being held for me while I complete my screening tests. I have nver done IVF and we have been through 47 cycles of BFN, natural, and medicated, IUI (2).  Done waiting.

Would love to hear everyone's experience with Frozen DE and outcomes.

Thank you for reading.

DE from my cousin?

I am new to this group.  I am 32, and have been ttc for almost 2.5 years for our second.  We got pregnant naturally with our first, but it took some time.  I have premature diminished ovarian reserve.  Many docs wouldn't even take me on as a patient.  We have done IVF a couple times and there are no eggs that mature.  I tried two different protocols and none worked, so the RE wants me to try DEs.

We are thinking about using DEs from my cousin.  Has anyone done something similar to this?  Any concerns I should have?  Thanks!

Straight to Donor?

Hello All~

I am new to this site.  I am 42 (and a half :)) and have one completely blocked fallopian tube and one that is questionable at best.  I met my sweet husband at 41 and of course thought that I would have zero problem getting pregnant right away.  Everybody in Hollywood is doing it; right?

So after a year of trying, we've been to a fertility center.  I am in the process of a mock cycle and preparing to undergo IVF with a donor.   We have not tried IVF with my own eggs at all.   I am posting because although I feel good about our decision to use donor eggs, I wonder what others in my position have done.  I guess I want a little feedback and assurance that we're doing the right thing.

My husband and I only have one shot at this, so that's why we're going with the donor without even trying my eggs.  We do not have unlimited financial resources and insurance covers nothing.   There is no way financially that we could do another cycle if my eggs were to fail, and of course time is not on our side.   With the donor, we qualify for a success guarantee so that if we do not bring home a baby, we are refunded or can continue transfers until we do conceive.

Has anyone else here gone straight to a donor after not being able to conceive naturally?  If I were in my 30's, I would be trying with my own eggs first, but at my age, I just don't want to take a chance of no baby if the odds are stacked against me.  I don't know all the of medical lingo yet, but when my doctor has examined me with ultrasound, I have had six follicles total.   My AMH is also below optimal level.   But then I read miracle stories (women doing IVF at 42 with their own eggs and conceiving on the first try) on the Internet and start wondering if we're doing the right thing.

Help! Trying to choose a donor.

DH and I decided we want to do an ivf cycle with donor. We already chose the Dr. we would like to perform the procedure. We also found the Donor agency we are going to use. I found three donors that have similar eye color hair color and features. My first choice looks the most like me but I don't know if my chances of having extra frozen embryos left over are very high if I use her. Any advice would be appreciated.

first choice: has has been through one cycle, late 20's, 20 eggs retrieved, one transefer, two blastocysts. resulted in pregnancy.

second choice: Has been through one cycle, early 20's, 39 eggs retreived, 2 transferred, and 5 frozen.

third choice: has never done a cycle but had an ultrasound that showed about 15 follicles.

I really think the first choice looks most like me but I think my chances are maybe better with my second choice. any input would be so helpful.

Should I do PGS testing for my DE cycle?

My doctor told me if I do PGS testing they will only transfer one fresh embryo, but if I don't do PGS testing they will transfer two. My husband and I are not leaning towards doing the testing because it's an extra expense. I would like to know if other couples on here who are going through a DE cycle are going to do the PGS testing. Any input would be helpful.

... and this is what it looks like!  Ladies.... breathe deep.  Don't worry about siblings, building your family, frozen embryos, your HCG rising, feeling cramps or not, twinges, nauseau or your boobs getting bigger... Symptoms, symptoms, symptoms or lack thereof... I suddenly have this little boy living in my living room, referring to me as mom and filling my life with more joy than I knew possible all of the time.  That's right, my only successful embryo from a successful, proven 23 year old donor, single recipient, fresh cycle, no frozens.  I was hesitant to share because we are keeping it confidential... but you need to know.  I'm going to keep this simple but just look at what only one great embryo looks like in real life...
