Washington Post Article About Lack of Donor Follow-Up to Determine Health Impact

I don't think you can link articles so I won't, but today I read an article from the 6/21 issue of the Washington Post where they talked about how there is no donor tracking therefore the health risks long term are unknown. In the article the women talked about feeling exploited as well as not adequately informed of the risks. It made me feel like a huge douche canoe. I care about our donor and hope she is being treated with kindness and respect. It's a major procedure as many of us know from going through IVF ourselves.

A nurse at the clinic and I were chit chatting at one point and she was telling me some horror stories of how donors have been treated in some other countries. It didn't really occur to me that they might not be treated well here too.

Thoughts on the ethics of all this? I hope our donor(s) don't look back and regret their decisions. One lady in the article has stage four cancer today and she had donated 10 times in the past. Her doc can't tell her definitively if there is a link between her cancer and the IVF :(
