From my understanding, Private Messaging system is not working well as of yet. Hopefully Babycenter's engineers will resolve the issues soon. I have received alerts of new messages, but cannot "reply" so please know that I am not ignoring anyone. 
eta: I also have phatom "invite" hanging out there.
I have cleared cookies and cache. Maybe they will get it figured out.
