Hi there,
We just made the decision to move forward with donor eggs. We're working with a clinic in NYC (RMA) that has a pretty robust in-house program so likely going with them vs an agency.
And I'm stuck on the first thing we need to decide: shared vs non-shared cycle.
Ideally we want more than one child (from the same donor) so we have been leaning towards non-shared cycle to increase our chances of having extra embryos to freeze... but from chatting with the coordinator I am feeling less certain - they seem to really be in favor of the shared cycles.
With a shared cycle you are guaranteed at least 5 eggs for half the price of a non-shared cycle. With the non-shared cycle you get all the eggs but depending on how the donor responds, you could still end up with fewer eggs than a shared cycle...sigh. And if we do a non-shared cycle and the donor just isn't great and we end up with no baby, we will have spent twice as much.
We've had such bad luck with everything fertility-related, that making this choice seems so hard.
What did others who wanted more than one child do?
Thanks so much for any insight!
