Hi everyone,
I would love to get advice from those of you who have chosen the DE path. I am 40 years old (turning 41 next month) and have done two rounds of IVF with my own eggs. Because of my age, we chose to do PGS. My first two rounds of IVF resulted in no normal blastocysts. Our doctor has said he has reason to think we should try a third round, but that if we want to achieve a pregnancy faster, we should skip right to egg donation. Either way, he said we should start learning about egg donation.
I am extremely fortunate that my insurance would cover everything except the donor agency and screening costs (which I believe are about $12,000 - $15,000 total)...and after that I should have enough DE embryos to last several transfer attempts.
I am torn as to whether I should go through the physical and emotional stress of a third IVF round (which is almost fully covered by insurance), or just go right to DE. I would almost certainly need to wait a few months to do a transfer from a DE, whereas my next round of IVF is scheduled for the end of July. To add to my confusion, I am concerned that because of my age, a potential baby from my own egg/s might be less healthy or have developmental issues compared to a baby from a DE.
Please share your advice! I so appreciate it.
