Feeling kind of down tonight. Once we finally made the decision to use an egg donor, we were really excited to move forward and get started. My clinic has about 30 donors for a fresh cycle, and they partner with Donor Egg Bank USA for frozen. DH and I found a fresh donor that we liked, but were told she won't be available until the end of the year. We definitely don't want to wait that long. None of the other donors were good matches with what we are looking for, and my clinic's coordinator told me they won't have any new donors to look at until May. They do allow you to use a known donor if you have one, but we don't.
DEB USA has a lot more options, but we even loosened our already pretty liberal criteria for what we were hoping/looking for, and don't see a single donor we have a great feeling about. At least the contact at DEB USA told me they have been adding one or two new people every day for the last week. So we feel like we are going to end up going the frozen route and just have to keep checking their site every day for the one or two new donors until we find someone we feel good about since our clinic won't even have new donors for fresh until May. I guess in my excitement and eagerness to get started once we made the important decision to use a donor, I was silly thinking we were going to find the "right" one right out of the gate, and I just feel a little sad thinking it might be months before we find her. For those of you that it took a while... how did you stay patient without going crazy before you finally found the donor that felt right to you? Did you end up having to compromise what you were looking for a little? Thank you so much for listening, and for your thoughts/advice.
