Older Moms...need your advice

Hello,

I am new to this board. I discovered it from the Embryo Donation board. I noticed that there was a thread about being an older mom and wanted to connect with you all, espeically those in their late 40s and early 50s!

I have a 6.5 year old, conceived naturally. I just turned 51, am in good health, and have never been able to shake the desire to give my child a sibling. (He asked me today why he didn't have a little brother!) His dad and I have separated and so I had thought about adding to my little family through adoption or embryo donation, but am now interested in finding out if ED IVF would work for me. My son's dad actually offered to be a donor, which I thought was very strange at first (having an ex be your sperm donor), but I've spoken to some people who think I should consider it since there would be a bio connection to my son. I realize that using DE means that I will not be related biologically to my baby and I think I have to adjust to that reality to begin with; the fact that the child would be related biologically to my ex and not me is a bit of a bitter pill to swallow, but on the other hand, using a sperm donor I don't know doesn't seem to be better necessarily. Soooo, the questions I have regarding being older are:

Is there an upper age for DE IVF? (I mean do clinics have an age limit?)

If one is not having her cycle anymore, is it still possible? Do they make you artificially cycle with meds?

For those who've become pregnant using DEs at an older age, have there been any medical issues that have come up regarding your age?

Thanks for reading this. I can use your support right now as I try to make a decision about what I should do. I don't want to live the rest of my life regretting not having a sibling for my son.
