I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself right now since we have not fully started the donor egg process. We are a little more than a quarter of the way in. I always thought I would have had three children and I never would be in the boat I am in. My husband and I are torn on a single embryo transfer or a double embryo transfer. I know I would love to have more than one child I don't want to keep going down this road. So I'm wondering if anyone who had twins can help share their experience? I have had some unexplained health problems in the last 5 years. I had steroid injections done on my back April 2009 and then developed an extreme case of Cushing syndrome and gained 67 pounds of fluid within 3 weeks. Several months later I wound up needing a spinal fusion. Due to the extreme amount of fluid my thyroid then shut down and I was diagnosed with Lupus. During the course of the last 5 years I was hospitalized or several occasions BC the fluid got so bad . in 2011 i needed full faciotomies in both legs due to the amount of fluid buildup. My body retains a lot of fluid and doctors can't figure out why. I have been to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota 4x and still nothing has been clearly diagnosed. my husband worries about how my body will react to being pregnant. My doctor said he will leave it up to us but would prefer to only transfer one embryo. That is more or less what they like for everyone as the clinic is not a huge fan of multiples. knock on wood I have been surgery free and hospital free the last year and a half. Unfortunately my body never rejected or reset itself. But I am healthy otherwise
