I read an article yesterday regarding whether or not you should reveal or have to reveal to your OB/GYN you used donor eggs or just did an IVF.
I have been thinking about this all day.
If you reveal the information it will go in your file. If no one knows about the way you actually conceived, it may be difficult to keep the info confidential if its in your chart. That means anytime your records are requested this info is compromised. Individuals you want to keep this from may accidentally find out.
One of the ladies in the article delivered and while her family was visiting the nurse spilled the beans, by referring to the egg donation. Her family knew about the ivf, but not the egg donor.
Another lady revealed to the doctor, and it was not in records that she did a medical release for, but a new receptionist sent the entire medical record to another physician she had been referred to for another matter. So things like this can happen no matter how careful you are.
I would want the best care from any doctor so I would want to be honest and open. But, I don't want everyone to know about the egg donor until I tell my children.
