The lab just called. Today is 48 hours post retrieval. The embryologist said that of our 6 eggs that fertilized normally none of them are 4 celled today, which is what they want. They are
1 two cell (still "ok" quality)
1 three cell that is very fragmented (I understand that part)
1 five cell - no specific comment other than it's poor quality and growing too fast. (ETA:she said odd numbers are bad)
1 six cell - same as the five cell
2 eight cell, one of which they would still call "ok" quality but it's growing too fast, the other is poor.
So of the six we have a two cell which is behind but still "ok" and an eight cell "ok" that she doesn't sound confident about. All the rest are poor. They are very disappointed in the results. She said there were no sperm issues. I don't understand. She was fairly to the point and said she have the RE call us for a consult but I'm now sitting here in tears feeling like we just spent $30k and won't even get to transfer anything and have a million questions I didn't get to ask. I know I"ll talk to the doc at some point today but can someone offer any insight?
